7 "POOL FENCE" VILLAS IN SANUR

Families with tiny tots in tow want to have a baby and toddler safe holiday pad in Bali, and the most obvious thing that most of us think about is, a pool fence. Knowing that your little ones can crawl or run around safely is gonna make parents way more relaxed, right! In my experience, it can be a bit overwhelming trying to find a Bali villa with a pool fence.

This post is a a brief snapshot of villas in Sanur with a permanent pool fence, or where they will put one up free of charge. If you know of any others that I can add to the list please let me know. Don't forget there is also the option of hiring a pool fence in Bali.

I haven't stayed in these places, but I've been meticulous about doing my research, and have read all the reviews and been in contact with the owners etc.

*I have given a rough idea of prices, but check directly with the owners as things change.

1. VILLA PUTI

3 brms + 3 bthrm + free temporary pool fence. From approx $160 + AUD p/n

Best for families with littlies plus an extra or two + good value

Villa Puti looks like a nice family pad, that could accommodate your littlies, and even the grandparents (or perhaps a friend). It’s not on the beach but its not too far and is a short walk to shops and restaurants. I really like the look of it, but I’m not sure I "totally" love the style. It certainly has lots of pluses though. It's owned by Chris, an Australian man who lives in Bali who has been has been super quick and really helpful answering all my questions via email.

Chris can organize a temporary bamboo pool fence (at no extra cost) which is about 1.5 metres high with a gate that is fastened by a locking mechanism. I can’t vouch for it, so ask Chris all the nitty gritty details. He can also provide a cot, a high chair. The bedrooms and living space have aircon which I also like so you can close it up and chill out during the day if it gets too hot. The third bedroom is a separate from the main house. I’ve read all the reviews and they are all good with lots of praise for Chris and how helpful he is and how lovely the place is.

Chris also has another 2 bedroom villa right next door - Villa Pagi (with a connecting gate) with a pool that can also be fenced (at no extra cost) if you have a bigger group.

2. VILLA PAGI

2 bdrm + 2bthm + free temporary pool fence. From approx. $140+ p/n AUD

Nice for a single family + good value

This pad is also owned by Chris, of Villa Puti and is right next door. This 2 bedroom villa looks nice enough and tastefully decked out on the whole. I like the look of the high wooden/thatched style roof. It can accommodate 4 adults plus bubs. Like Villa Puti next door it’s located down a quiet lane close to the beach and shops. This pad looks like it has a good layout for families because the kitchen/living space can be closed off to the outside areas (with aircon). Chris can also provide a cot, a high chair. It gets rated as excellent, 5/5 with 19 reviews on Trip Advisor.

3. THE VILLA SANUR

4+ bdrm + 3 bthrm + fenced pool, magical garden, oodles of kiddy stuff & more

Best for a couple of a families or extended family

This gorgeous and unique home is the much loved holiday house of Australians, Kristen and Richard with 3 youngsters (3, 5 and 7). It's definitely on the Growing up Troppo wishlist! I've had quite a bit of online communication with these guys and they seem super lovely. Ok, perhaps, it’s a tad out of place in Bali, and more in keeping with the cliff tops dwelling on the Greek island of Santorini. But, somehow it really looks like it just works.

It has huge gardens where kids can be kids and being a family holiday house the villa is set up with pretty much everything you need for families, a cot, a high chair, a bumbo seat, a bottle steriliser, bikes with kiddy seats, car seats, toy, books and games. So yippee you don’t have to lug it all with you. Richard tells me that the interiors are all fairly robust so you don't spend time stressing about things getting broken etc. The pool has a shallow kiddy section and a custom made fence with double locks (tested by the Richard and Kirsten’s 4 year old). The beach is also really close which is great. The issues that I can see are that you would have to watch little ones around the ponds. They are very shallow (30cm deep), but still with littlies you would need to be vigilant.

Our biggest asset for families is that our children's nanny, Sari will also babysit for our guests on request. Sari has worked for us for 5 years and is part of our family. She is a truly amazing person who we feel so blessed to have in our and our children's life”, Richard.

The important stuff

  • Daily breakfast each day

  • Car seats x 2

  • Car booster seat

4. Sanur Villa

4 bdrm, 2 bthrm + pool fence. From approx $295+ AUD per night

Best for 1-2 families with littlies in tow

This beautiful and lavish villa is the cosy, yet spacious family holiday home of Rene, a Dutch national and his family (including two youngsters) who live in Hong Kong. It has 2 master bedrooms, 2 interconnecting kid's rooms, 2 large bathrooms, and a fenced pool. It’s set up for 8 guests and comes with cots, high chairs, bunk beds, car seats, bottle steriliser, a change table, pool toys and more. So there is no need to lug all that gear with you! It gets 5/5 with 54 + reviews on Airbnb. There is a pool fence, but I have some issues with it because it looks like kids could climb over furniture to get access to it perhaps, and the main bedroom has doors to the pool area. So ask Rene lots of questions about the fence.

  • Air-conditioning

  • Safe drinking water

5. Bahagia Villas

Several 2 bdrm villas, some interconnecting from approx $140 US p/n.

Best for sleep deprived parents with little bubs or toddlers.

Bahagia Villas certainly look practical, smart, clean and luxurious and really well set up and designed for families with little ones. I’m not sure they are my cup of tea, style-wise and they look a bit bland for me. But they get rave reviews from families on Trip Advisor (5/5 with 27 reviews). I can totally see their appeal if you have a bub in tow and are in need of an easy family holiday where cooking, cleaning and all the day to day chores are taken care of. The staff and management are highly praised in the reviews and can help with grocery shopping, laundry, in-house meals and more.

I think the stand out things that make these villas great for families with tiny tykes are the sturdy looking pool fence, and the fact they they have pretty much most of the kit and caboodle you need for your bub - be it cots with mozzie nets, high chairs etc. The layout and design of these villas would work if you are a family with a bub or little one with a kitchen, a ground level floor plan and an enclosed outdoor area. They also have separate bedrooms so you can put bub to sleep and still enjoy a movie or a book in the living area.

My only issue is that the living space looks like it can’t be closed to the outside space (which is common in Bali). This means you can’t crank the aircon in the living room during the day if you need to. But, check that with them. They also aren’t on the beach (which is ideal in Sanur), but they aren’t far and they seem pretty good value for what you get.

Important stuff

  • Full kitchen

  • Daily house-keeping

  • cable TV

  • Daily breakfast included

  • Aircon

  • Grocery shopping service

  • Night-time security

  • Meals/cooking service (if pre-arranged with staff)

  • Wifi

  • Transport/drivers (on request)

Cool for families because.

  • Cots (with mozzie nets)

  • High chair

  • Sturdy pool fence (no extra charge)

  • Baby-sitting (extra charge)

  • Ground level (enclosed courtyard)

6. VILLA TULIP

4 bdrm + glass pool fence. From approx $US $650 + p/n

Safety glass pool fence at Villa Tulip in Sanur

Tulip Villas are a small complex of 3 new modern villas in Sanur located just behind the main street. Their 4 bedroom villa has a permanent glass pool fence and can accommodate 8 people. I don't like the villas style-wise. I guess the the furnishings of these villas isn’t my cup of tea. But it does look luxurious and seems to have pluses for families. It was hard to get too much more from the website about these places and there aren’t many reviews about the villas on Trip Advisor so I really can’t comment too much on them. It seems on the very pricey side for Sanur.

The important stuff

  • Aircon

  • Daily breakfast

  • 24 hours security

  • Wifi

  • Full kitchen

  • Cable TV/DVD Player

  • House keeping

  • Airport transfers included

  • Complimentary bikes

Cool for families because

  • Cot

  • High chair

  • Glass pool fence

  • Baby-sitting (extra cost)

7. VILLA VISHNU

3 bdrm + pool fence and more from approx $148 AUD + p/n

Super helpful host + lots for little tykes (but style doesn’t do it for me)

This is a private Airbnb property that is owned by Paul, an Aussie guy who lives in Bali. It is a 2 story villa with 3 large bedrooms and bathrooms, lots of living areas including a rooftop deck and entertaining area. It is really great value for what you get. It has a garden area and a pool, which Paul says can be securely fenced and locked for families with littlies. The villa can accommodate 6 guests plus a few babies I assume. It is located in a quiet residential part of Sanur, about a 10-minute drive into the centre of Sanur, and a 15 drive to the beach. So, I guess it’s not that central.

It comes with cots, high chairs and the all important metal pool fence. The interior decorating isn’t my thing and it’s looks a bit gaudy and wacky style-wise for me. But, it does get over 50 glowing reviews and many from families that highly rate this place! And it seems from these reviews that Paul is a truly excellent host who will go out of his way to make sure your family and kids are catered for and have a wonderful stay. So that's all pretty good.

The important stuff

  • Aircon in bedrooms

  • Night-time security

  • Cable TV + DVD

  • 8 Push bikes to use

  • Use of mobile phone (with local numbers)

  • Wifi

  • Full kitchen

  • Free airport pickup (for stays of 6 nights)

  • Safe drinking water

Stuff for little tykes

  • Metal pool fence with lockable gate

  • 2 x Baby cot

  • 2 x high chairs

  • Stroller

  • Baby pen

  • Pool toys

  • Stair gates available

I’ve tried to be as accurate as I can, based on all the info I can find without actually visiting these pads. Please let me know if I have made any errors because I want the information on Growing up Troppo to be as accurate as possible. Please double check all the info about the pool fences directly with the owners because I havent seen the pool fences and I’ve seen some questionable pool fences in Bali with locks that don’t work, that are too low, to flimsy and have access to the pool through bedrooms etc. I don't have any affiliation with the owners of these properties and Im not getting any freebies or incentives to profile these places. If I haven't credited any of the photos correctly please let me know as these photos aren't mine.
