This lavish villa is the cosy, yet spacious family holiday home of Rene, a Dutch national and his family (including two youngsters) who live in Hong Kong. It has 2 master bedrooms, 2 kid's rooms, 2 large bathrooms, and a fenced pool. It’s set up for 8 guests and comes with cots, high chairs, bunk beds, car seats, bottle steriliser, a change table, pool toys and more. So there is no need to lug all that gear with you!

Best for
The villa would be ideal for 2 families with littlies in tow (bubs, toddlers or preschool age) or maybe a family with tots and a couple of friends or the grandparents, or a large family.
The lowdown
I think the Balinese architecture of this beautiful villa and the lush tropical gardens will immerse your family in a fairly big slice of all that is wonderful about Bali, without even having to go out the front door. There is so much to love - the beautiful gardens with moss-covered walls, the intricate carved wooden doors, antique furniture, Balinese sculptures and the traditional fabrics which adorn the walls.
Why it rocks for families
Villas that are actually the holiday homes of families are generally well set up, homely and have a loved feel to them in my experience, and Rene's place is certainly no exception. It has been lovingly decorated and is decked out with heaps of kiddie equipment, so there are no extra costs to hire stuff, and no need to lug it with you. The staff at the villa receive rave reviews from past guests about how wonderful they are with little tykes, which is good to know. Many reviews mention how much their kids loved Wayan, the house-keeper (and her pancakes).
Sanur is an easy place to have a relaxing family holiday. It’s much quieter and less full on than Seminyak, but there are still enough shops and cafes and restaurants to check out. The beachside path goes for a few kilometres and is dotted with low-key cafes under shady trees and is perfect for long walks with a stroller or a bike ride. The centre of Sanur with cafes, restaurants and shops is a 3 minutes away, and it’s a 10 minute stroll to the “kid friendly” Sanur beach which is known for its colourful fishing boats, low-key beach-side cafes, a stroller/bike friendly walkway, and calm waters where littlies can build sandcastles or even fly a hand-made pirate ship kite.

The layout
The villa has two large private master bedrooms with comfortable king size beds and large en-suite bathrooms (with baths). There are also two small kids bedrooms which are connected to the master bedrooms, each with a with a bunk and a toddler's bed. There is a full kitchen with pretty much all the equipment you will need to prepare kiddy snacks or meals if you feel like cooking. It looks like there is plenty of room to spread out and have your own space and privacy, which is important if you are holidaying with another family.

Need to know
My main concern about this place (and remember I haven't seen it), is the pool fence and how safe it is. There is a removable gate which can be installed if you have kids. I doubt it would pass Australian safety standards, so take a good look at the photos and ask Rene all the questions you need to. Things that would concern me if travelling here with our full on 3 year old boy would be that the master bedroom also opens to the pool so you will want to make sure this room is kept shut. It looks like there are potentially places where climbers might be able to get leverage of the furniture or other things to perhaps scramble over the fence too.

This is a Growing up Troppo wishlist property, i.e., I haven't stayed here. But Ive done my homework and read all of the Airbnb site 46 + reviews, Trip Advisor, Flip-Key pages and reviews etc. I have also had contact with Rene via emails who was very helpful. It's important that the information on Growing up Troppo is as accurate as possible so please let me know if I have gotten anything wrong about this place or you, think it's not accurate please let me know.
